7 Simple Tips to Self Publish Your Book.

Getting your book published can be a nightmare with publishing houses rejecting your book because it's not good enough or demanding money you don't have before they can publish your book. But reassured all that is about to end with my 7 simple steps to self-publish your book.

1. Writing the book

The first step to self-publishing your own eBook is actually having a story you want to publish. You must already have so many ideas floating in your head about what kind of story you want the world to read so the first step is writing it down. When you're done with that, you just got one step closer to being the author you've always dreamed of.

2. Editing your manuscript

So once that story is finished and you're all excited about it, you're aren't done yet. You must be wondering what all those million red lines in your book signify. They're mistakes and errors you have to get rid of before the book is ready.

This might be the hardest part of getting your book ready for publication and some of you might be wondering what I'm talking about but if you're self-publishing then you don't got any money.

But don't worry, the headache you'll get from checking and rechecking for errors and the grammar will all be worth it once you're done.
Those of you who can pay for professional editors are lucky but for those of you who can't, your friends are your best bet in doing this faster.  Because what are friends for right?

3. Cover Design

This might be the most important step yet. A compelling cover can go a long way in getting people interested in reading your book. An eye-catching cover will get more people interest in reading your book and it's sad most people only look at covers when choosing what book to read and no mater how great your book is, without it, you won't get that many readers.
For those of you who can't pay to have a professional cover designed there as apps like canva that you can use.

4. Self-publish as an eBook or print book.

Well you  made it. All that time spent writing, editing and worrying about the perfect cover has finally led you here, self-publishing your book.

What a rush, right? There are many platforms that allow you to self-publish your book cost free (eg. Kindle Direct Publishing) and all you have to do is decide the one you prefer and you're there.

Congratulations, you've published your book!

5. Marketing your Book

     Ha!
You thought that was it, huh? Well unless you're a major public figure or related to a famous someone, you don't have to do anything but if you're as  broke as I am, then you need to come up with ways to make your book sell. People might think self-publishing a book is easy and they're not wrong but getting your book to sell is the problem you have to face.

Your book might be up in the marketplace but it doesn't guarantee that people will buy it so what I usually recommend is that you go crazy advertising your book. Anywhere you think there's people-traffic then go crazy. Social media might be your best option but don't go too crazy, you don't want to get banned.

Guys, this is something I can't stress enough, be careful who you trust in your quest to get your book out there. There are a lot of scammers on the web who'd do anything so please do your research and make sure there's nothing suspicious about people who'd ask you to pay so they can advertise your book on their websites or wherever. Please be careful.

6. Make Friends

If you've read this far then you're on the road to greatness my friends.  While you're marketing your books don't forget your friends can also be a big help. Having friends who are bloggers or authors or maybe even someone with a really substantial social media following can get you far. If you don't know people like that then reach out  but don't creep people out. Keep it casual and you'll see everything will work out.

7. Be Realistic

And finally my friends remember you just started. Don't set goals that are too impossible for yourself and if things don't appear to be going the  way you want them too, don't beat yourself up about it. Don't put too much pressure on yourself and remember you're not the only one and that you're doing this because you love it. Relax and do your thing.

One more thing
Wash your hands frequently and avoid handshakes. I need every single one of you healthy so I can continue to post for you.
Stay safe my friends!
